Paraffin Tulle Dressing

A Paraffin Tulle Dressing (clinically referred to as a paraffin gauze dressing) is a sterile wound care product designed for injuries involving superficial skin loss. It consists of a gauze mesh structure fully impregnated with medical-grade paraffin, creating a soothing interface that keeps the dressing from incorporating directly into the recovering wound bed.

Integrating a Paraffin Tulle Dressing into a wound management protocol delivers several clear clinical advantages:

• Soothes and Protects: The paraffin coating provides a gentle, non-irritating layer that soothes the injured area while shielding vulnerable tissue from external disruptions.
• Facilitates Free Drainage: The open-mesh weave of the gauze allows wound fluid and exudate to easily pass through into an overlying secondary absorbent dressing.
• Reduces Dressing Adherence: By maintaining a lubricated surface, the dressing reduces the likelihood of binding to dry or raw wounds, which protects fragile epithelial cells during removal.
• Requires Secondary Securing: This product functions as a primary wound contact layer, meaning it must always be used beneath a secondary absorbent material and secured with appropriate medical tape or bandages.
